The Journal of Marine Engineering and Aquatic Sciences (JMEAS) requires that authorship accurately reflects each individual’s contribution to the research and preparation of the manuscript. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the work and must take appropriate responsibility for its content.
Authorship Criteria
An individual should be listed as an author only if they have:
1. made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; and
2. contributed to drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content; and
3. approved the final version of the manuscript for publication; and
4. agreed to be accountable for their own contributions and for the integrity of the work.
Individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged, with their permission.
Author Contributions
Authors are encouraged to clearly describe their individual contributions to the work. JMEAS recommends the use of the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to promote transparency in reporting author contributions.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all eligible contributors are included as authors, that all authors have approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript, and that all authors are informed of relevant editorial decisions and communications.
Changes in Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be clearly justified and approved by all authors, including any author being added or removed. Such requests are subject to editorial approval.
Changes in authorship after acceptance are permitted only in exceptional circumstances. Requests made after publication will be considered in accordance with the journal’s policy on corrections and publication ethics.
Inappropriate Authorship
JMEAS does not permit guest, gift, honorary, or ghost authorship. Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria must not be listed as authors, and individuals who meet the criteria should not be omitted from the author list.
All authors are expected to provide accurate information regarding their contributions and to cooperate with the journal in resolving any authorship concerns or disputes. JMEAS may take appropriate editorial action when authorship misconduct is suspected.
