The Journal of Marine Engineering and Aquatic Sciences (JMEAS) applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. The peer-review process is designed to ensure the scientific and technical quality, originality, relevance, and integrity of published articles.
Initial Screening
Upon submission, each manuscript is screened by the Editorial Office and/or an Editor for compliance with the journal’s Aims and Scope, submission requirements, scientific and technical quality, originality, and publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external review.
Assignment to an Editor
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an appropriate Editor based on subject expertise. The Editor assesses the manuscript and determines whether it is suitable for external peer review.
Reviewer Selection and Evaluation
Manuscripts considered suitable for external review are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their scientific competence and absence of conflicts of interest.
Reviewers are asked to assess the manuscript with regard to its originality, scientific and technical soundness, methodological rigor, significance, clarity of presentation, validity of the results and conclusions, and contribution to the field.
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports and the Editor’s assessment, one of the following decisions may be made:
Accept
Minor Revision
Major Revision
Reject
The Editor may seek additional review when reviewers provide substantially conflicting recommendations or when further expert assessment is required.
Revision and Re-evaluation
When revision is requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript together with a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ and Editor’s comments. Authors should clearly indicate the changes made and provide scientific justification for any comments that have not been addressed.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the Editor, depending on the extent and nature of the revisions required. More than one round of revision may be requested when necessary.
Final Decision
The final decision is based on the scientific and technical merit of the manuscript, the reviewers’ assessments, the authors’ responses and revisions, and the Editor’s evaluation.
Acceptance is granted only when the manuscript meets the scientific, technical, ethical, and editorial standards of JMEAS.
Confidentiality and Integrity of Peer Review
All manuscripts and peer-review materials are treated as confidential. Reviewers must not disclose, share, or use information obtained through the review process for personal or professional advantage.
Editors and reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and withdraw from the review or editorial process when impartial evaluation cannot be ensured.
