Conflict of interest

The Journal of Marine Engineering and Aquatic Sciences (JMEAS) requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the research, interpretation of results, peer-review process, or editorial decision-making.

Authors

Authors must disclose all relevant financial and non-financial conflicts of interest related to the submitted work. These may include, but are not limited to, employment, consultancy, ownership of stocks or shares, patents, research funding, personal or professional relationships, institutional affiliations, or other interests that could potentially affect the objectivity or interpretation of the work.

All manuscripts must include a Conflict of Interest Statement. If no conflict exists, authors should state:

“The authors declare no conflicts of interest related to this work.”

Disclosure of a conflict of interest does not necessarily prevent publication but allows the Editor, reviewers, and readers to assess the work transparently.

Reviewers

Reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest that could affect their impartiality. They should decline a review when a personal, professional, financial, institutional, or collaborative relationship with the authors or the research may compromise, or reasonably appear to compromise, their objectivity.

Editors

Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. In such cases, the manuscript will be assigned to another qualified Editor who has no relevant conflict and can ensure an independent editorial decision.

Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest

If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified during the editorial process or after publication, JMEAS will assess the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies. Where necessary, this may include correction of the published record or other appropriate editorial measures.
