The Journal of Marine Engineering and Aquatic Sciences (JMEAS) is committed to maintaining the originality and integrity of the scholarly record. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and may result in rejection of a manuscript or appropriate editorial action after publication.
Authors must ensure that all sources are appropriately cited and that any material reproduced or adapted from previously published work is properly acknowledged and, where required, used with appropriate permission.
Similarity Screening
Manuscripts submitted to JMEAS may be screened using turnitin software before or during the editorial process. Similarity reports are used as a screening tool and are evaluated by the Editor in context.
JMEAS does not assess plagiarism solely on the basis of an overall similarity percentage. The nature, extent, source, and location of overlapping material are considered when determining whether inappropriate text or content reuse has occurred.
Handling of Plagiarism
If plagiarism or inappropriate content reuse is identified before publication, the authors may be asked to provide an explanation or revise the manuscript. In cases of substantial or deliberate plagiarism, the manuscript may be rejected.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, JMEAS will investigate the matter and take appropriate action depending on its nature and severity. This may include issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, and, where appropriate, notifying the authors’ institution or other relevant authorities.
All suspected cases of plagiarism will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with the journal’s Research Misconduct and Publication Ethics policies and recognized standards of scholarly publishing.
